Children Poem: My Neighbor's Dog is Purple
Image result for my neighbor's dog is purple

This poem by Jack Prelutsky tells the story of his neighbor's unusual dog. His neighbor's dog is very big, and he doesn't bark like many other dogs do. He also has a very long tail, like a very very long tail. The dog is purple, unlike most dogs. That's because before his neighbor painted it, it was a crocodile!

This poem by Jack Prelutsky had a very cute and funny store. The whole time you are reading along and wondering what kind of weird dog this must be. The suspense is building up the whole time, until at the very end you learn that it's no dog, but rather a crocodile! I think children from Pre-K to 2nd grade would absolutely love this poem. I think it could be really fun to read this to children, and as you read they illustrate what the dog looks like. At the very end, a young child would fall over laughing learning that the dog was actually a crocodile.
